The Apple Watch Series 8 is coming, and while it may not fundamentally change the overall design and functionality of the device, it is expected to bring at least some changes to the lineup. But perhaps a more radical change to the Apple Watch will come from the rumored new Apple Watch Pro — or the Apple Watch Series 8 Pro.

The Apple Watch Pro is expected to bring some design changes and possibly some cool new features. Here’s everything we know about the Apple Watch Pro so far.

Apple Watch Pro Design
Perhaps one of the biggest differences between the standard Apple Watch model and the Apple Watch Pro is its design. The Apple Watch Pro will reportedly be designed for more rugged use, rivaling the Garmins of the world.

Now, it remains to be seen exactly how it will become more rugged, and we haven’t seen any leaked images of the device. According to reports, the device will feature a stronger body material, which could eventually be made of titanium instead of aluminum. Also, it may have more shatter-resistant glass – although that might make it more prone to scratches.

The rumored flat Apple Watch for the Apple Watch Series 7 could end up being the Apple Watch Pro. The Apple Watch Pro doesn’t just look different — it could be bigger, too. According to rumors, the device could be 7 percent larger than the largest existing Apple Watch model. That means it could have an impressive 2-inch display.

Despite some early rumors, it appears that the Apple Watch Pro will not offer a circular design, keeping the rectangular design for which the Apple Watch is known. The device will likely also retain the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown.

Apple Watch Pro features and fitness tracking
According to most rumors, the Apple Watch Pro will be mostly equipped with the same features as the standard Apple Watch. That said, it will still have most of the same sensors.

That includes the new skin temperature sensor, which is rumored to be on the Apple Watch Series 8. As well as previously available sensors such as heart rate monitors, SpO2 monitors, etc. Under the hood, the device will run on the same chip as the Apple Watch Series 8, which is likely to be called the S8 chip. It remains to be seen how powerful this chip, if any, will be compared to the S7 chip.

Over time, Apple may continue to differentiate the Pro models of the Apple Watch. Next year, for example, the Pro model may get more features that the Apple Watch Series 9 doesn’t have. We’ll have to wait and see.

Apple Watch Pro price and release date
If Apple plans to release the Apple Watch Pro sometime this year, the device will likely be released alongside the Apple Watch Series 8 at Apple’s “Far Out” hardware event on September 7. We expect Apple to launch preorders for the device next Friday, followed by a general release on Friday. Pricing for the device hasn’t been announced either, but rumors suggest it won’t be cheap, and according to rumors from Twitter user Apple Hub, the device could cost closer to $1,000.
