Eufy has a slew of robot vacuums at the moment, and the Eufy Clean X8 Pro is the affordable entry-level model in its latest X Pro series. It vacuums well and includes a compact self-draining

Charging station, which is fairly compact.

It only offers the most basic mopping capabilities, though, with a small water tank at the back that holds the cleaning cloth. This allows the robot to mop the floor behind it while it vacuums. In our tests, mopping with a spinning pad tended to be more effective, and the mopping method was too light to effectively clean the stains we tested. However, Eufy promises 6N of pressure on our test stains, which may give it an edge over rival robot vacuums.

It has two 4000Pa suction motors that work in opposite directions to suck dust into a 335ml collection bin. Using two engines doesn’t double the suction power, but Eufy claims it sucks in 80% more air, with around 1.8 times the suction power of a single 4,000Pa device such as the Lefant M1.

Overall, the navigation abilities of the Eufy Clean X8 Pro are excellent. The initial mapping run that the robot needs to perform is fast and efficient, with the Eufy Clean X8 Pro Robot Vacuum Battery able to scan my entire 64m² ground floor plan in four minutes. It doesn’t need to get into every corner, but since it uses LiDAR to scan the room as it passes by, you can configure no-go areas before the robot gets there.

After that, you can divide the floor plan into rooms as needed, and then start your first proper clean. Cleaning speeds are very reasonable, at around 55 seconds per square metre. Eufy Clean X10 Pro with Auto Emptying Station review: should I buy it?

For less than £600, the Eufy Clean X8 Pro with Auto Emptying Station is a solid choice. It’s not a superstar in any particular area, but there are few downsides either. The base station is compact and can only empty the collection bin, but in that respect it performs about as well as you’d expect from more expensive rivals, not products in this price range.

One feature it lacks that more expensive rivals have is mop maintenance: you have to refill this robot and clean it yourself. Its reliance on people carries over to the actual cleaning, and you’ll need to limit mopping to carpeted areas and rugs, as the robot can’t do that for you. However, I was still surprised by how well the mop performed in testing, despite not using a spin-mop pad, which usually works better than this method of mopping.
