Clicking the icon will display a drop-down menu listing your keyboard and mouse, each with an associated battery percentage. If either device is low on battery, plug it in and charge it. When one of these devices is plugged in, you’ll notice it appears gray. Note that if you click mouse or keyboard input it will disable it, so I would avoid doing this.
