Nokia Mobile provides temporary fix for night charging issue

I usually only need an overnight charge to get me through the day. I’ve been charging my phone overnight since I started using it over 20 years ago, and if the

phone battery is okay, I should have about 30% juice left when I go to bed with moderate phone usage. If you are a heavy smartphone user, then you most likely need to recharge your smartphone battery in the afternoon.

Anyway, after the Nokia 8.3 5G, I started testing the Nokia XR20 and became strangely addicted to the phone and I’m still using it today. But about 6 months ago I started having  Nokia XR20  batteryissues with my Nokia XR20 and by 5:00 PM my XR20 battery was completely dead. Since the phone is so full of photos, videos, and apps that it takes so much time to set up, I couldn’t be bothered to do a hard reset to see if that fixed the problem.

I used Huawei’s 40W fast charger to charge the XR20, thinking that the  XR20 battery might be bad, but other phones didn’t have this problem, so I ruled it out. The latest Android 12 version released for the XR20 in July has all but fixed the battery issue, although it still drains the battery faster than on Android 11.

There appears to be a software issue causing battery issues, and Nokia Mobile has finally identified it and sent a message to XR20 owners about the issue via the MyPhone app.

Apparently, there’s a software bug that drains your phone’s battery faster if you charge your phone overnight and leave it plugged into the charger for a long time after it’s fully charged. Nokia Mobile is working on a solution to the issue, but if the issue occurs, pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds (soft reset) should resolve the issue.I don’t know if the challenges I mentioned above are the ones that other users are experiencing, but Nokia Mobile deserves credit for notifying phone users of the issue and providing a temporary fix until a build update arrives.

I appreciate the team’s openness and the way they informed us about this issue. It’s also a great way to use the rather useless myPhone app, and it would also be nice to get software update logs via the MyPhone app in the future so we know what new version updates bring.I’d also like to say that the XR20 performed pretty well and I’m happy with the performance of the device,

Nokia XR20 battery issues aside. It makes for beautiful underwater photos even from a distance (btw, that’s not my dad in the photo , and it’s not a dead body, haha).\
