Xiaomi has launched the Mi Book S 12.4, a 2-in-1 device that runs Windows 11 and is powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor. It also comes with a smartpen and keyboard, but it’s a tablet first, not a 2-in-1 laptop.

This 12.4-inch tablet features a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution LCD touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. While there are compatible styluses and keyboards, they’re sold separately — meaning the Mi Book S is just a “2-in-1 laptop” if customers buy additional accessories. The Book S 12.4 aims to take it to the next level with its Snapdragon capabilities and Windows 11 operating system.

The Mi Book S 12.4 will be available for £649 on the Xiaomi website in select markets including the UK. It supports the Mi smartpen and keyboard sold separately. If you don’t add optional accessories, this makes the Books S 12.4 more like an iPad Pro tablet with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

The tablet’s 12.4-inch (2,560 x 1,600) LCD touchscreen is housed in an aerospace-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy package, and the display offers a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits of maximum brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. This is similar to the Mi Pad 5 , providing excellent brightness and rich colors.

Under the hood, you can expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor running the Windows 11 operating system, meaning users will get a full PC experience with 0 GPU instead of using Xiaomi’s tablet MIUI. It’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Kryo 495 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 68, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

You’ll also find a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, along with built-in Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology. In terms of battery, the battery capacity is expected to be 4,920mAh and 65W fast charging. Xiaomi claims it can last for 13.4 hours before needing a charge.

It also comes with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, with a USB-C port and a handy 3.5mm headphone jack. Measuring 11.5 x 7.7 x 0.35 inches and weighing 1.5 pounds, it’s slightly larger and heavier than the Mi Pad 5, but it’s a slim and lightweight 2-in-1.
