Last week, OnePlus revealed the arrival of its so-called Glacier Battery technology, promising to significantly extendOnePlus phone batterylife, among other things. That day has finally arrived, as the newly announced OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is the first phone to feature the technology.
OnePlus says the Ace 3 Pro has a 6,100mAhAce 3 Pro battery, which is probably the largest we’ve ever seen in a OnePlus phone. This OnePlus phone battery also dwarfs the batteries in the OnePlus 12 (5,400mAh) and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (5,000mAh). The manufacturer adds that the phone is just under 9mm thick, so you’re not sacrificing thickness for such a large OnePlus Ace 3 Pro battery. OnePlus says the Ace 3 Pro can last two days.
OnePlus says the phone supports 100W wired charging speeds, but disappointingly, USB-PD charging speeds are only around 13.5W. It’s time for the brand and other manufacturers to adopt fast PD charging. OnePlus has always claimed that its OnePlus phone batteries can withstand 1,600 charging cycles (like four years of use) before reaching 80% effective capacity. Thankfully, the Ace 3 Pro supports this technology as well. So you should still see excellent battery life a few years from now. It’s worth noting that this is far from the largest battery we’ve ever seen in a smartphone, but batteries this big tend to be the preserve of rugged phone brands and niche manufacturers. The rest of the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is a mix of flagship and mid-range phones. For starters, it’s equipped with a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and OnePlus says it’s the first Android device to run Genshin Impact at 120fps. It also comes with a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED screen (8T LTPO), up to 24GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of fixed storage.
Apart from that, the phone also comes with a mid-range 50MP+8MP+2MP rear triple-camera setup, so don’t expect the OnePlus 12’s periscope camera on this phone. The 16MP camera handles selfies and video calls.
There’s no wireless charging either, and you’re limited to an IP65 rating, not full waterproofing. But at least the company’s Rain Touch technology allows for more accurate touch input in the rain or when your fingers are wet.
The Ace 3 Pro is also able to make calls in environments with weak or no network connectivity, which is quite interesting. We’ve seen apps like Firechat offer messaging capabilities over local networks (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) before, but we’re not sure if this calling feature is based on similar technology.
Other notable features include a three-level alert slider, IR blaster, NFC, dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7.
