When Samsung’s Galaxy Watch7 was recently announced, people were excited to see all the new features, but didn’t notice that something was missing.
(formerly Twitter) user JordyV27 found a support page that shows that neither the Galaxy Watch 7 nor the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have the Wireless PowerShare feature.
For those unfamiliar, Wireless PowerShare is a reverse charging feature that allows Samsung wearables to steal a little power from Galaxy smartphones. To transfer power, you simply place the smartwatch directly on the back of the phone. This feature is exclusive to a few first-party devices, but it does come in handy in emergencies. A Worthwhile Trade-Off
While some may be disappointed that such a useful tool was removed, it’s a worthwhile exchange. Samsung’s BioActive array improves the health features of the wearable. For example, the Galaxy Watch 7 can help users understand their metabolic health as it tracks AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products). It can now even look for signs of sleep apnea. Samsung’s support page also recommends using the wireless charger that comes with the Watch 7, as using an older model may result in slower charging times “and more heat generation.” Again, this is due to the BioActive sensor array.
