I’ve spent a few weeks using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra as my daily machine. Samsung’s latest high-end Android tablet costs at least $1,199 for the Wi-Fi model. With Samsung’s DeX mode, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is a powerful productivity tool. Coupled with its huge 14.6-inch AMOLED 120 Hz display, it becomes the perfect device for gaming and multimedia. The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is slightly more expensive than the base iPad Pro (2022), which has a 14.6-inch screen size, while Apple’s largest iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch screen size and retails for $1,099 each. However, this is the 128 GB model of the iPad Pro. When comparing equivalent configurations with 256 GB and Wi-Fi connectivity, the price is the same, at $1,199 each.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is an excellent Android tablet. Despite its size, it’s also very thin and fairly light. The finish feels premium, and the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is also IP68 certified.

At the same time, given the available surface area of the huge body, components inevitably have more room and are more reasonably distributed due to the wider body. This makes the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra much thinner than most high-end smartphones. The rounded corners and straight edges make it feel good to hold.
The magnetic connection of the S Pen on the back is very reliable, although it fell out easily when I took the tablet out of the protective cover. To be honest, I would have preferred a slot inside the tablet to store the stylus, like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (review). The appearance of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra does give it a premium feel. The aluminum frame is paired with a Gorilla Glass 5-protected back and screen. For added durability, the tablet is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. This means you can use it outdoors, whether it’s raining or by the pool, without any worries. Considering I’m not a millionaire, I don’t have a pool (nor a garden, balcony, or terrace), and even if I did, I would never leave a $1,200 device in the rain. So why take the chance? The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra features a 14.6-inch AMOLED display. It has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1,750 nits. The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra screen has a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848, which is great for multitasking and gaming.
However, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 9 Ultra’s adaptive brightness ensures good readability in all conditions, even in direct sunlight with Vision Enhancement mode enabled.

In real-world use, regular office or multimedia use can easily last a day and a half. If it’s intense gaming use, don’t expect it to last more than a day.
For a device of its size, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has adequate Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra battery life.

If we compare the performance of this tablet to more affordable Android tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 9 Ultra battery llife is clearly not the best. However, the large 14.6-inch AMOLED display and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC don’t skimp on power consumption.
