Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

Apple threw down the gauntlet to serious GPS sports watch brands with the Apple Watch Ultra series, and now Samsung is following suit with the big Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung’s branding is the same as Apple’s, and it comes with the familiar orange buttons and waterproof silicone strap. The Samsung model also has some of the other premium features found in the Apple model, which is a good thing for Android phone users, especially Samsung Galaxy phone users.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra features a unique square design with a round dial, an interesting magnetic lug system, three buttons on one side, gesture support, advanced running dynamics, and more. Samsung’s Galaxy AI comes in the form of health insights that combine into a daily score to help you reach your peak performance, including healthy sleep levels.
The Watch Ultra runs Google Wear OS 5.0 and One UI Watch 6.0 powered by Samsung, which means it still looks like a Samsung smartwatch but also supports Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Wallet, Google Play Store, and more Google apps.
It has an operating system optimized for a round watch design with a virtual rotating bezel. Features like fall detection, text messages, calls, and more are available on the watch, as well as support for advanced fitness data like VO2 Max and advanced running dynamics data.
At $649, it’s the most expensive Samsung Galaxy watch, but it’s still $150 cheaper than Apple’s competitor, the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
