Best Gaming Mouse

Razer DeathAdder V3 | Logitech G502 X

The Razer DeathAdder has been a staple among gaming mice for nearly two decades, known for its iconic right-handed design as well as its gaming performance. With the DeathAdder V3, the company has prioritized function over form, with fewer curves and a primary button that’s completely separate from the rest of the body. Weight has also been reduced from the DeathAdder V2’s 82 grams to 59 grams without the cable. The wireless Pro ($144) is slightly heavier at 63 grams, while the white version ($135) is 64 grams.

In terms of performance, the DeathAdder V3 has an optional 8KHz polling mode in addition to the industry-standard 1KHz. In the Pro, this mode requires a $30 adapter and reduces the expected Razer DeathAdder V3 mouse battery life from 90 hours to 17 hours. With a maximum sensitivity of 30,000 dots per inch (DPI), this mouse makes it easy to move from one side to the other of any multi-monitor setup. It also tracks movements accurately at up to 750 inches per second and 70g of acceleration. It’s rated for 90 million clicks, thanks to its use of optical switches.

Best Features Logitech G502

If you want a mouse with more buttons and features, the Logitech G502 X is your best choice. In addition to the two side buttons, the mouse includes two edge buttons for changing the DPI on the fly, and a removable, two-way “sniper button” for temporarily lowering the DPI. The scroll wheel acts as two additional buttons by tilting it left and right, and another button lets you switch between “stepped” and smooth scrolling. The last button allows switching between setting profiles.

The G502 X uses hybrid optical-mechanical switches, which give you the speed and durability of optical switches without the risk of accidental clicks. The Hero 25K sensor offers up to 25.6K DPI and is rated at 400 IPS with 40g acceleration. At 89g, it’s also light for a mouse with so many buttons.

The wireless version of the G502 X Lightspeed ($100) is heavier at 102g, but offers 140 hours ofG502 X Lightspeed battery life, and can be wirelessly charged with the Powerplay mouse pad ($109). The G502X Plus ($133) adds eight-zone RGB lighting, but expect the  Logitech G502X Plus battery life of the Logitech G502X Plus to drop from 130 hours to 37 hours after activating the lighting. All versions can store five settings profiles.
