Setting up your iPhone 14? how to do this

You have received your iPhone 14. Maybe you waited in line at an Apple Store or pre-ordered it and got it in the mail, but finally, Apple’s newest phone is in your hands, and now you need to set it up.

Whether you’re migrating from Android, or a long-time Apple user, you may still need some help. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the steps to set up your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, from turning the device on and connecting to Wi-Fi to activating the eSIM and transferring all your data. Let’s have a look!

What to do before you start setting up your iPhone
If you’re moving from another phone or setting up your iPhone for the first time, you’ll need the following:

  1. Backup your old iPhone. If you’re moving from your old iPhone, you’ll be transferring data from your existing phone to your new iPhone 14, so it’s best to have an up-to-date backup to restore.
  2. Keep your old phone close by. Whether it’s an Android or an iPhone, it’s best to have your previous phone ready.
  3. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. You need to be connected to a stable Wi-Fi network to set up your iPhone.
  4. Have your Apple ID credentials ready. Have your email and password ready if you need to sign in to your Apple account, restore backups, etc. You can also create one during setup.

1.Turn on your iPhone 14
The first thing you need to do is turn on your iPhone. No matter which model you have, turning it on is the same: Press and hold the side button on the right side of your iPhone until you see the Apple logo appear. Wait a few seconds and the Hello screen should appear. Swipe up to get started.

2.Follow the instructions on the iPhone screen
Now you have to do a few small things on your iPhone to complete the first part of the setup. First, you must:

  1. Choose a language: If you are in the US, you should see English listed directly at the top.
  2. Select your country or region.

3.Set up your iPhone 14 with fast startup
You’ll see the Quick Start screen, which allows you to automatically set up your iPhone 14 with the help of previous iPhones or even iPads. If you go this route, you’ll need to turn on the old device, connect it to a Wi-Fi or cellular network, and bring it near the new iPhone 14.

Next, you will be asked to verify or connect the two phones. You can use the camera on your old iPhone to scan the pattern on your new iPhone or enter a verification code. You will then be prompted to perform the following actions, which include:

  1. Join your Wi-Fi network on your new iPhone.
  2. Set up the eSIM. You should see two options: transfer from another iPhone or set it up later in Settings. If you choose the first option, you’ll be asked to double-tap the side button on your old iPhone.
  3. Set up Face ID or Touch ID.
  4. Select how you wish to transfer the data.

While doing this, it’s a good idea to have both devices connected to a power source, as this can take a while. Follow all the steps until you are done and have access to iOS 16 on your iPhone 14.

4.Manually set up your iPhone 14
Now, if you’re from an Android or other phone, or want to manually set up your iPhone, tap Manual Setup on the Quick Start screen. If you decide to go this route, you’ll need to do the following manually:

Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Wait a few minutes for your phone to activate. Read data and privacy tips. Click Continue when done.

Set up Face or Touch ID. This will be how you unlock your iPhone 14 using facial recognition or fingerprint.

Create a six-digit passcode to unlock your iPhone 14.

Choose how to restore your apps and data. You can restore from iCloud backup, restore from Mac or PC, transfer directly from iPhone, move data from Android or not transfer apps and data.

Next, agree to the terms and conditions; customize your settings; update to the latest iOS; and set up Apple Pay, Siri, and Screen Time if necessary. You’ll also be asked if you want to share your app analytics with developers, which helps developers use your data to improve their apps. Finally, set the True Tone display, choose light or dark mode and choose standard or zoomed view.
