Honor has unveiled the Honor X9c, a mid-range smartphone designed to withstand the rigors of everyday life, the successor to the X9b launched last October.

The X9c is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4 nm) chipset and features a massive 6,600mAh battery, an increase of 800mAh over its predecessor, the X9b. Touted as Honor’s toughest phone yet, the X9c comes with a host of durability features such as improved drop and scratch resistance, making it an ideal choice for users who prioritize durability over powerful specs. Honor has put a lot of emphasis on the durability of the X9c, highlighting its improved build quality. The phone is drop-resistant to 2 meters (6.6 feet), has successfully passed SGS’ comprehensive reliability tests, and is said to withstand up to 3,000 rubs with steel wool without noticeable damage.

 Performance and Honor X9c battery:

The heart of the Honor X9c is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, the same chipset as the X9b, ensuring mid-range performance suitable for everyday tasks. Available memory configurations include 8GB or 12GB RAM, paired with up to 512GB storage options.

The device has an IP65M rating for comprehensive waterproof protection. Honor does offer other IP69-rated models, but the unique combination of durability features makes the X9c the toughest phone to date, perfect for those who need enhanced durability.

Display:

The Honor X9c features a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with a resolution of 1224 x 2700 pixels, supporting 10-bit color depth and 8+2-bit effective rendering. Its peak brightness is up to 4,000 nits, making it clearly visible even in direct sunlight. The screen has a 3,840Hz PWM dimming function to reduce screen flicker and provide a smoother viewing experience.

The X9c is equipped with a powerful 108MP main camera with a 1/1.67-inch sensor, f/1.75 aperture, and optical image stabilization (OIS). The camera can bin pixels at a 9:1 ratio to improve low-light performance and uses in-sensor technology to provide 3x lossless zoom.

In addition to the main sensor, the X9c is also equipped with a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 16MP front camera with 1080p video recording support. While similar in some ways to the X9b’s camera setup, the X9c has upgraded the display, supports higher brightness and higher durability, thus improving the user experience.

5. Software experience:

The Honor X9c is equipped with MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14, which brings many of the company’s latest features and optimizations, including “Magic Capsule” and “Magic Portal”.
