drained after 6 hours and 30 minutes. That’s not a bad result, but it means that to get eight hours of work done, you’ll need to find a power outlet.

Over the years, the internal components have been constantly updated to keep the Pavilion SE on a modern path. To that end, the latest version is based on the Intel Core i5-1335U, a processor that will be available in the first quarter of 2023. That’s a very modern chip for such a cheap laptop. All other components have been reasonably updated too, so you also get a 512GB PCIe 4 SSD, a fingerprint scanner and a 1080p webcam. The last two features are ones you won’t find on some more expensive laptops.

HP Pavilion SE 14 review: Verdict

For £450, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the HP Pavilion SE 14. Performance is decent, there are unexpected premium features like a 1080p webcam and powerful speakers, all packed into a stylish, sturdy body.

The life could be longer, the display could be better, but it’s more about value for money than exceeding expectations. As a versatile laptop for home, school or work, the HP Pavilion SE 14 ticks all the boxes.
