Wireless headphones are all the rage these days, and Apple’s AirPods are the most coveted of all. The device is favored by many high-end users for its excellent sound quality and simple controls.
Many AirPod users are unaware of the device’s interesting and useful features and tricks. It has amazing features to ensure you get the most out of your gadget.
Assuming you’ve already set up your AirPods, there’s a lot more to discover about them. Here are some top tips and tricks to make sure you get the hang of Apple wireless headphones in no time.
Find a lost or stolen AirPod
Apple’s Find My app is a lifesaver for those prone to losing things. If your AirPods are linked to your Apple ID, and you’ve set up Find My on your iPhone, you’ll be able to see the last known location of your AirPods on a map.
The app will show you the current location of your AirPod and provide directions to it. You can also use the app to play sound on your AirPod if it’s near your Apple device and connected to Bluetooth.
Save battery
If you’re looking for a true wireless experience, you’ll be happy to know that an AirPod can work alone as a Bluetooth headset. Charge the other in the charging case and replace as needed. This means you can use it to take calls or listen to music without worrying about running out of battery during a call.
Making a temporary hearing aid
The iPhone has a great feature called Live Listen, which turns AirPods into on-demand hearing aids. This is a very useful feature for conducting conversations in difficult environments, however, it requires some setup.
To enable Live Listen on your iPhone, you need to go to Settings > Control Center > Custom Controls. Then, find the Listening option and tap the green “+” sign next to it. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to use the Live Listen feature by putting your AirPods in and opening Control Center on your iPhone. Then, select the listening icon and tap Live Listen.
Siri makes life easier
With Siri, you can easily have your AirPods read incoming messages aloud to you without moving your fingers. You can also reply to messages with a simple voice command – how convenient! To turn on the feature, open the Settings app and go to Notifications. Then, scroll down to Announce Messages with Siri and flip the switch to the ON position.
If you want to reply to a message, just say “reply” and dictate your response. When the call ends, Siri will read the message to you to confirm or send the message directly, depending on your settings.
Note: You need iOS 13.2 or iPadOS 13.2 on your iPhone or iPad to have Siri read your messages. Additionally, you must own one of the following AirPods sets – AirPods (2nd generation) or AirPods Pro.
