Externally, the Osmo Action 4 looks almost identical to its predecessor. However, its internals and general specs have changed quite a bit. First, the Action 4 has a larger sensor size than its predecessor, at 1/1.3 inches, with a wider pixel pitch.

Battery life. DJI promises around 155 minutes of recording time in 1080p mode in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius. Recording time in 4K mode isn’t as long, but in my experience, I found the camera’s power consumption to be very good. I recently spent a long day on a remote river in Norway, and while I brought spare DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera Battery, I never had to use them.
Overall, I preferred the Action 4’s images because of the ability to adjust sharpening and noise reduction settings. Ultra-wide angle mode once again performed well, which is one of my favorite features of the DJI Action camera.
The Action 4 uses the same magnetic mounting system as the Action 3, which makes switching between mounts very quick and easy. This is one of the main advantages DJI cameras have over GoPros if you’re going to be using different mounts multiple times throughout the day.
The Action 4 now has some pro settings so you can turn off noise reduction and reduce sharpening to zero. When combined with the D-Log M feature and 10-bit color, the Action 4 integrates more easily with other pro cameras. ND filters can be added, but I recommend using them with caution if you need to use the built-in RockSteady stabilizer, which is most effective at shutter speeds of 180 seconds and above.
The DJI Osmo Action 4 is a great value for the money. It’s a solid performer, with no glitches during my testing (except my own!), and the DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera Battery
life is also very good. The magnetic mounting system should be standard, as it makes changing mounts quick, and the user interface is easy to use even if you’re not tech-savvy.
