If you count all professional camera products, including SLR and mirrorless, etc., Canon seems to be the No. 1 brand in this field. However, if you look at the mirrorless market alone, then Sony ‘s influence here is even stronger. Recently, CNMO noticed that Canon announced more plans and goals for 2023.
According to information, in 2022, Canon’s imaging business will achieve double growth in sales and profits, while profit margins will increase significantly. At the same time, thanks to the high reputation of the Canon brand in the market, Canon has maintained a large share in the mirrorless market, which has become a strong support for its business and profit growth. Meanwhile, in 2023, Canon expects global sales of interchangeable-lens cameras to be around 5.5 million to 6 million units. Among them, mirrorless cameras are expected to account for more than 70%. Canon also stated that they will continue to maintain the No. 1 market share in interchangeable lens cameras, while aiming to become the No. 1 market share in mirrorless cameras.
In order to better achieve this goal, Canon will obviously have more initiatives, including at least three aspects. First, Canon will be committed to the expansion of the EOS R system, including launching more cameras and lenses to meet the needs of more consumers. Second, Canon will also introduce more functions to meet user requirements in terms of photos and videos. Third, Canon will also focus on the development of the EOS VR system.
According to the information held by CNMO, Canon EOS R5 Mark II may be officially released in 2024. Meanwhile, Canon is working on the EOS R1, their true flagship mirrorless camera, but it’s not yet known when it will be available.
